#SummerOfBaseball – Batting 7th the Lansing Lugnuts! @Lansing Lugnuts

lansing lugnuts

The 7th team in our #SummerOfBaseball lineup is the Lansing Lugnuts, the Single-A affiliate of the Toronto Blue Jays in the Midwest League.

While the organization’s roots date back to 1955, the team began playing in Lansing, Michigan in 1996 as an affiliate of the Kansas City Royals from 1996-1998 before being affiliated with the Chicago Cubs (1999-2004) and the Blue Jays (2005-present). The team was most recently the Midwest League Champion in 2003 and they’ll be back in the playoffs again this year after taking the first half crown.

The team plays their home games at Cooley Law School Stadium (formerly known as Oldsmobile Park) with room for over 10,000 fans where fans are entertained by the loveable mascot Big Lug.

Check out some of these names who were once Lugnuts on their way to the Show – Carlos Beltran, Matt Treanor, Jeremy Giambi, Chad Durbin, Jeremy Affeldt, Kiko Calero, Hee-Seop Choi, Corey Patterson, Carlos Zambrano, Ronny Cedeno, Brendan Harris, Carlos Marmol, Ryan Theriot, Adam Greenberg, Renyel Pinto, Sergio Mitre, Casey McGehee, Felix Pie, Randy Wells, Casey Janssen, Travis Snider, Danny Farquhar, Marc Rzepczynski, Ryan Goins, Yan Gomes, Jake Marisnick, Drew Hutchison, Anthony DeSclafani, and Kendall Graveman.

Oh – did I mention Noah Syndergaard was once a Lugnut? Thor pitched in 29 games (21 starts) for Lansing in 2011-2012 where he had a record of 8-5 with an ERA of 2.64 and struck out 131 batters in 112.2 innings. Here’s another little factoid – Noah also recorded his only career save as a Lugnut.

So check out the awesome 20th Anniversary Lansing Lugnut baseball the team sent up in the two-tone white and gray!
