Continuining our #SummerOfBaseball series, today’s feature team is the Wisconsin Woodchucks. Thanks Chucks for sending in a ball!

The Woodchucks play in the Northwoods League, which is a collegiate summer baseball league and they play at Athletic Park in Wausau, Wisconsin which has seating for nearly 7,000 fans. Since their founding in 1994, they have won two Northwoods League championships in 2001 and 2003. During the 2014 season, the Chucks drew nearly 60,000 fans.

Over the years, the Woodchucks have had several major leaguers come through their ranks including current Major Leaguers pitchers Pat Neshek of the Houston Astros and Mark Lowe of the Seattle Mariners, Toronto Blue Jays outfielder Kevin Pillar, Philadelphia Phillies 1B/OF Darin Ruf, switch pitcher Pat Venditte of the Oakland A’s, and most notably 10 year MLB veteran and former All-Star Ben Zobrist.

Their season runs from May to August – check out their website and give them a follow on twitter @ChucksBaseball

If you want your team featured, drop me an email at metsfanontwitter@aol.com – I’ve asked various teams across all levels of play for a baseball that I can photo and put up on my social media with the hashtag #SummerOfBaseball. I thought it would be something fun to share with everyone who is following me on twitter and have a little fun in the process. At the end of the summer, I’m planning on taking a group photo with all the balls which arrive.

Keep an eye out for another #SummerOfBaseball tomorrow!
