How Close Did I Come to the Mets Opening Day Roster?

On February 17th, I predicted my opening day roster.  A lot has happened in camp since that very early prediction was made.  How close did I come?

Now the final 25 has not yet been announced.  That will come tomorrow. is still listing 30 players on the active roster.  Included on that roster are Frank Francisco and Johan Santana, who will be on the DL.

How do my 25 compare with the 30 still on the list?

Johan Santana – will be on the DL

Jon Niese – on the list

Shaun Marcum – on the list

Dillon Gee – on the list

Matt Harvey – on the list

Josh Edgin – on the list

Pedro Feliciano – wrong on this one

Jeremy Hefner – on the list

Brandon Lyon – on the list

Bobby Parnell – on the list

Scott Atchison – on the list

LaTroy Hawkins – on the list

Position Players:

Ike Davis – on the list

Daniel Murphy – on the list

Ruben Tejada – on the list

David Wright – on the list

Justin Turner – on the list

John Buck – on the list

Lucas Duda – on the list

Kirk Nieuwenhuis – on the list

Colin Cowgill – on the list

Marlon Byrd – on the list

Mike Baxter – on the list

Anthony Recker – on the list

Brandon Hicks – wrong on this one

Johan is on the DL and I missed completely on Pedro Feliciano.  I was also wrong on Brandon Hicks.  In his case, the only reason I picked him over Omar Quintanilla was because Hicks was on the 40 man roster.  Neither Hicks or Quintanilla made it.

There are presently 5 pitchers listed on the remaining active roster that I hadn’t picked:

Greg Burke

Jeurys Familia

Jenrry Mejia

Scott Rice

Frank Francisco (will start season on the DL)

The two position players that I did not pick are:

Zach Lutz

Jordany Valdespin

When the final 25 get announced – we’ll get the final tally.
