If you’re in the NHL and wearing #77 – that’s not a bad thing. If you’re in Spring Training, that’s not a number you want to be assigned.
This is the number assigned to Andrew Brown. Mr. Brown is in camp as a non-roster invitee. He’s hoping to make the team as possibly a platoon player in right field. Another non-roster invitee that is also vying for a spot in the outfield – the same spot in right field is one Marlon Byrd. While Byrd is coming off a lousy season and a 50 game PED suspension, he has a seasoned major league player, has been named by Terry Collins as a favorite for the position and… he’s wearing a major league number.
Marlon Byrd is number 6. Andrew Brown is number 77. Collin Cowgill, who is on the 40 man roster and is also fighting for an opening day spot is wearing number 4.
If the trainer tipped Terry and Sandy’s hand – Andrew Brown will not be going north.
